The Governors

Sinfin Community School Governors have three key roles; setting the strategic direction for the school, ensuring accountability, plus monitoring and evaluating the school’s performance.

The Governors work closely with the Head Teacher, Steve Monks, setting the future direction for the school and deciding how the budget should be managed. The governors also provide support and advice for the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team. The Governing Body reports to parents annually on the school’s achievements and responds to inspection recommendations. Governors hear appeals from students, parents and staff, plus respond to concerns from the local community.

There are 17 Governors of Sinfin Community School. Governors come from a range of backgrounds within the community and bring with them a wealth of expertise and experience. All are committed to the improvement and success of Sinfin Community School. The current Governing Body is made up of representatives from the local community, staff at the school, the Local Authority and parents/ carers of pupils.

The Trust Partnership with Chellaston School requires that the majority of governors are proposed by the Trustees many of whom have close ties with the school.

The Governors meet at least termly at Sinfin Community School. If you have any questions about the Governing Body or would like to raise a concern, please contact the Head Teacher.
