Sports Facilities and Social Spaces

Sports Facilities in the New School

Our sports facilities are first class. The sports hall is large enough for five badminton courts, 5-a-side football, netball, basketball or cricket nets. The gymnasium is equipped for gymnastics, trampolining, aerobics and dance. For the first time we also have a School Hall for assemblies, concerts, plays, meetings, dance and drama.

Outside there is a multi use games area (MUGA) including tennis and netball courts and, thanks to £230,000 from Sport England, an artificial turf pitch for hockey, football and 5-a-side, including floodlights. The football pitches have new drains and have been refurbished so they can be used all year round. In conjunction with Derby City Council, we are developing a plan to open our sports facilities to our community in the evenings, weekends and holidays so that everyone can take full advantage of what we have to offer.

A new social space has been created on the site of the previous school buildings. Our students have been closely involved in the planning and the design of this area and it provides quiet areas with seating and shade as well as space for other leisurely activities.

As you can imagine, safety and security have been uppermost in our minds as we have planned the new school. We have listened to the concerns of parents and students and have made sure that the new school will have carefully monitored entrances and exits with safe separation of vehicles and pedestrians and secure fencing to ensure your child is kept safe while in our care.
