Links with our local community

The school plays a central role in offering a wide range of opportunities for children and adults in the locality. We host a cluster coordinator who takes responsibility for organising a variety of sporting and creative events during term time as well as in the holidays. These events are organised with our cluster of local partner primary schools:

Redwood
Sinfin
Stenson Fields

Other children from primary schools further away are also welcome.

The Design & Technology department of the school hosts taster sessions with most of the 5 local primary schools throughout the year in order to help prepare students for the transfer from Year 6 to Year 7. This has proved to be very successful.

Sinfin Community School works very closely with all other secondary and special school in the city and has taken the lead on several collaborative initiatives including the engineering diploma course and the Rolls Royce Young Apprenticeship scheme. We also work closely with Derby College and have a formal partnership agreement with Derby University.

Many local employers are supportive of the school, especially Rolls Royce who sponsored our specialist engineering status and have provided resources and staff expertise over the years.
